Sea Dancer Designs

My name is Lisa Mills, Sea Dancer Designs. I live in Oceanside, California. I've been a doll lover my whole life, and I learned to sew when I was very young, making tiny outfits for my Liddle Kiddles. I also started customizing my dolls back then, much to my mother's distress. I loved giving them haircuts and new makeup.

I first heard about fashion doll repainting in 2003 after seeing Gene, Tyler and Sydney at a doll show. Wow, what amazing dolls they were! A dear ladytold me about how people actually gave these dolls new faces, and I was intrigued. I tried my hand at it by repainting a Twilight Rhumba Gene. I was pretty horrified at the results, she was very bad. But I had a group of new friends who were so supportive and

encouraging, so I kept on. I attended the very first International Fashion Doll Convention in Dallas, Texas and entered six dolls in the competition. I won three first place, two second place, and a third place. Such fun, such wonderful people, such amazing dolls, I have loved the doll customizing world ever since. I enjoy the painting so much, especially when the paint seems to flow off my brush and the doll comes to life on my table. My favorites are the ones who create themselves, who surprise me with who they are. I love to paint and I love that there is always something new to discover, learn see and create. My hope is that my dolls bring smiles to the faces of those who see them, and help them to forget their troubles, even if just for a moment.
