"Even before we selected the Once Upon a Time as our next project I was always fascinated with the Evil Queen as portrayed by Lana Parrilla, because even though she plays a villainess, she is a multifaceted character that is not pure evil, like the traditional unredeemable bad character.
She is a woman that has suffered loss, betrayal, a broken heart, more than once, from the people closest to her. I love that as Regina, she opened her heart to Henry, to embrace being a mother with all her being and took the chance to fall in love again.
In the physical aspect, Lana Parrilla is a gorgeous Latin woman that exudes sex appeal. All of her costumes are to die for. In particular I love the scene when she breaks in to Snow and Charming's wedding, with her thigh high boot, fierce ponytail and the flaming cape waving behind her!
Nobody is better at being bad than our Evil Queen.
The stunning Emilie De Ravin is doing a perfect job capturing the inquisitive and naïve view of the world of our Belle. As a counterpart to the ferocious beast (Rumpel) we can see their human side, their qualities and defects, not as fairy tales characters, but as human beings. Belle, being of such a sweet nature, taking the role of a warrior was quite a change for the character, and I loved the episode and the costume, so when the opportunity arose of choosing a second character Warrior Belle was an easy choice. Give me a kick ass girl any day, I love the challenge!"
Monica, herself, kick's ass talented lady. Her dedication to perfection is obvious when you look at her body of work. She will not compromise her artistic vision and the results speak for themselves. We are so excited to see the end result of her two powerful women. We know they will be treasures!
